Please note that this is a work-around for some insufficiencies with blogger's comment system and only works on pages where comments are counted (means post pages). If comments are not shown (archive pages) they are not counted and you'd have to make a few changes to the code above in order to correct the counter. This is currently not implemented, but I think it could be done relatively easily. Disqus is a superior comment system, but please note that it fetches all comments with javascript which means that they will not matter for search engine optimization, which is why I still use the blogger system. If you want to learn more about blogger you can look around on many blogs. I think there is not just one blog or website that has it all. To better understand the template you'd have to look carefully at the XML tags.Fortunately many of these tags have descriptive names, although it can involve a lot of trial and error to get things right.
